This morning I decided to take care of changing my address on my driving licence and I guess like most people in my situation, I quickly realised that is not that simple…
At least for once we are not the only country in the world with a similar problem.. 8-) A quick search on Google does reveal lots of people out there asking the exact same questions… What are my legal requirement? Can we use a PO Box? And so forth…
If you start to analyse the problem, it became obvious that this society doesn’t want you too, or perhaps they haven’t decide in which category do we fit… It seems that currently living in a motorhome or been homeless and living under a bridge, has the same meaning as far as getting your legal document in order. You can spend hours looking for solutions, but in the end, unless you are willing to spend hours and hours in paperwork, getting in line at 9am at the TRM and probably lose most of the day, for some of us, with relatives, the solution is still the same.
Yes, your best bet is still to use one of your relative address and for more than one reason…
Beside the fact that most forms do always have both residential and postal addresses, you also need to remember other things like vehicle insurance, enrolment to vote, pension… Most of them do not allow a PO Box for both residential and postal, so your paperwork and wasted time in different offices has just more than double…
I’m sure that if you are willing to fight the battle, you may eventually succeed, but at what cost?
In the end like someone mentioned elsewhere:
One of the first games a child plays at school is the one with square and round holes. Even if you do not want to put the round peg into the round hole it does make the teacher happy and if you make the teacher happy you can then go out to play………………..
So true… 😀
Still, if you know of a better and easier way of tackling this issue, please let us know…
