Happy Easter
To all those religious suckers… Happy Easter 😁. For the rest of us, enjoy your very Long Weekend..
March, gave me my mojo back. Getting on a diet was probably the best decision ever made this year, and while the weight goal is still 40kg away, I was still able to enjoy myself again by delving into my project once again..
The time had come to finish the floor. But off course, as usual, I had forgotten something along the way. There was still one piece of the kitchen missing.. I wanted to have a place where to store my starchy tuber and genus allium. But I also needed to hide a small portion of the floor where the heating system hose was going through the floor.
In the end, a triangular, split, double, hinged, deep drawer was created to achieve such job. And as a bonus, I also have a place now where to keep oil and vinegar.. While panicking for “essentials” I remembered I had stored away some paper for rainy days, and because I haven’t found any in the shops for sale for the past six weeks, I took a picture of it, just in case I want to remember the “old good days” when toilet paper was more of a luxury, than the Sunday Mail 😉. I also find a place where to store the “other” essentials..
Now it was time to complete the floor. I had chosen weathered Oak from the Amtico brand (spacia collection), back last year when I purchased it, and I wasn’t sure of the end result. I had done ceramic tiling a million times before, but never tried vinyl before. What a pleasant surprise.. Easier to work with and much quicker to install. Being of a commercial grade, it also does come with 10 years warranty. Honestly, highly recommended, and with 104 different material effects, you are sure to find the perfect one for your project.
Once the first part of the floor was installed, I went ahead a finish the couch as well. Now I have two queens size bed and yes Baldrick was right. I test it out the other night and yes, the foam is a bit too firm for my bones. Hopefully with a bit of sitting on it, it will soften eventually. With the new floor in place, I also decided to upgrade the Vacuum as the original Vax was just too weak for my taste. My daughter did push and convinced me to go for the new “cheap” Dyson, and in all honesty, it does work better than the Vax. If I get the time I may do a review of the two.
Once all the vinyl floor was done I went ahead and began the installation of the dining area. The dining chairs are the original seats and all I did I got them re-upholstered and re-paint the original frame in a nice gunmetal colour. I figure, if those seat where comfortable for Interstate travel, sure enough they will be comfortable for a dining area. They also still have the original belts, giving me the chance to homologate the Motorhome for 5 people.
As two of them are facing backward, I plan eventually to get a Jump Seat and mounted in the front above the first two steps, like most interstate coaches do have as standard. Finally, regarding the main dining table, I will take few more extra days and perhaps reconsider the original plan of the thick hardwood. I would like to have a table that while sturdy can also been use for entertainment and not just for dinner. I still have few litres left of clear resin and the possibility are endless, so we’ll see..
The last two pictures are just there for show. I love the way the floor has turned out and you can see how well it implement with the rest of the varnish wood…
Looks good
Thank you, Krystal. Much appreciated..
