February has passed, but it will be a month hard to forget…

Still, life goes on and I must look forward to find the lost mojo needed to get to the finish line. Being stuck in bed for the largest part of the month did allow me to make a new list of items that I called “not 100% right”.. This list is probably a very common thing amongst full time Motorhome owners, and because believe or not, spare time become hard to find when you live on the move, it tends to grow exponentially…

So sure, everything does work, but there is always room for improvements..

For instance, since day one, it always bugs me that I had the coffee machine near the cooktop, where I originally planned to have it on the opposite side of the sink. In the original plan I did include the provision for two power points, but then in the build I ended up installing only one. Don’t really know why, perhaps the heat was playing tricks on me. Anyhow, because I had already installed the power cable in the bulkhead, it was simply a matter of cutting a hole and installing the other power outlet. Now the coffee machine can be moved to the original intended location. This space is supposed to be used by any electrical appliance needed during cooking time..

The shower also had few little things that need it addressing.. Because of the bore water I used the first time while testing the (main water inlet), the grout on the shower went dark pretty quickly and it didn’t look any good. Also some water was finding its way out when rinsing the two shower glass. For the grout issue I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the small (250 mm) can of Shower Plug. This product is supposed to seal the grout and the tiles; hopefully it will prevent the grout from staining again and stay white..

Upon further inspection, it became apparent that the kitchen and bathroom silicone originally used to finish the shower, had already become mould and brittle within the first 7 months of use. Apparently is not designed to be constantly wet!?? 😦 Really??? Well, yes.. If you need to use a silicone that withstand being wet or being around wet surfaces all the time (like in a shower floor), you need to use a different (much, much more expensive sealant). I ended up to replace the entire sealant in the shower with the Sikasil Pool sealant designed to be around constant wet areas. I never had this problem before and not sure why the Sikaseal kitchen and bathroom did not work.. It doesn’t mention anywhere that it cannot be used in a wet area such as a shower floor, but I can assure you that, it did fail to remain white and flexible just after 7 months of use.

The left hand side of the ceiling cabinets is finally finish. The left main speaker is in place and now is finally time to finish the right end side above the driver seat. After that, the front pull down TV unit will commence, followed by the floor and dining area..

Another little issue was with the Webasto cooker controller. I could never see what setting the temperature was on. So, a little bit of white paint did fix that.

In the last two pictures you can see the two new underfloor fans to help the fridge on those days when the temperature is higher than 35° C and the adjustable thermostat that does control the fans, so that it can be adjusted to whatever the need may be…
