Because I’m removing the existing huge AC system out of the Coach, I thought it would have been easy to also remove the now redundant AC water pump now that both radiators were out.
The current location of the A/C water pump. This location is different in almost every bus I worked on. It normally goes where there is room available. 😀
These are the two hoses that deliver the hot water into the roof. They will go too.
Most of the hoses connections above the fuel filter will have to go as well…
Again more connections that will have to be removed.
The final goal here should be to have the most possible clear and uncluttered engine bay, so this will definitely help in both cleaning and shred quite a bit of weight. Like most rubber hoses, they tend to rust and get stuck onto the metal fitting, (unless the previous owner did care and replaced the hose fitting with brass). Luckily I have the latter install so that made the job extremely easy. If you have the metal rusted ones, normally a good twist of the hose while inserting a flat blade screwdriver under the lip, does set them loose. Don’t try to pull them out straight when they are rusted on, as you will end up with a broken hose…
I just removed all the unnecessary plumbing when I realised that there is also a huge piece of metal supporting the hose tap attached to the other metal support. Again, not need any more, so it’s going to be removed…
Much better, cleaner and lighter…
Even here all the extra plumbing is gone…
Twenty years of different mechanical labour have result in this mess. While flushing the engine I’m just looking at this mess and wonder how long will it take to get fixed. I can’t work in this mess. You can actually see by looking at things like the size and colour of zip-tie, the colour of electrical connector, the brand and size of hoses clamp, how many people and times things got fixed on the fly… 😮
Does it matter… I’ll get there eventually…
Now that the water pump has gone, that leaves me with a nice spot for possibly a power generator or anything that can fit in half square metre..
All done, Radiator, Intercooler, Hoses… Everything is done… Probably lost 25 kg in the transaction..
Just in case someone may wonder.. I left the two tap on the lines that goes to the front heater radiator in case I need to work on it, or just to turn it off in summer.
Now is time to concentrate on the other side for the removal of the compressor and the other gas fitting… 😄
