A Warning to All WikiCamps App User in Australia

Perhaps I’m too late, but just in case I feel the need to warn other users…

I have been using the App WikiCamps for the past 7 years and like the majority of other users, did a lot of work in updating and fixing listed sites, to make it better and more accurate…

Today, not even sure of why, I decided to update my version 5.9.3 to the latest one 6.0.4

What a disgrace!!!

The new app removed all my previous setting and saved data, but beside that, it is simply not the same App. The new App is simply a disaster…

Back in 2021 the App WikiCamps did change ownership and since then has belonged to the G’Day Parks Chain group..  In simple terms, we went from a little group of people running few apps on mobile phones to make a living, to a giant monster of a company that simply wishes to control how people do their holiday in Australia.. Like any other company, when there is an invested interest in the competition, the obvious two options are always to either join or buy and then kill the competition…

It seems that after some serious public lies, G’Day Parks Chain has decided to go for option n.2 and destroy WikiCamps as we know it, for the simple reason that they have no interest in people camping for free or in Caravan parks that are not under the G’Day Parks roof..

That doesn’t seem that bad… Unfortunately, it was a lie! The truth can be seen in the comments, left by the users since the new version made by the new group specifically designed to promote their personal interest and profitability and a complete disregard for the community, the actual people that did build the original app..

Extremely sad to see that nearly 100% of users have left a rating of 1 star, for the new latest version 6.0.4..

If by any change you do wish to remove the new version from your phone and re-install the last decent version of WikiCamps 5.9.3, you can do that by downloading the APK file into your phone and then run the installer..

I did try to use the new version for about an hour, but I simply couldn’t get use to the new system and in particularly the new colours and UI..

I’m sure that someone will like it, but I can’t say that this was a step forward for this App… Hopefully, most people will check the reviews before updating their WikiCamps App.. (I normally do, but not this time) What a shame to ruin such a beautiful and useful tools just for greed..

Best thing we can do, is to also avoid any Caravan Park and other Campsite associated with G’Day Parks Chain.. That would really teach them a good lesson..
